After his daughter was raped, Carl Lee Hailey (Samuel L. Jackson), the distraught black father, decides to hunt down and kill everyone responsible for the heinous crime. He decides to hire Jake Brigance (Matthew McConaughey) an untested lawyer to defend him in court.

Jack isn’t convinced that they stand a chance of winning the case in the small segregated southern community they reside in. Though the odds are stacked against them, Carl holds on to hope and has extreme faith in Jake and believes he has what it takes.

That is until he lands a big case which consists of defending a Beverly Hills playboy (Ryan Phillippe) who is being accused of murder.

At first, Mike believed this would be an easy case that would be done quickly and offers a large monetary reward. But as he quickly discovers, this case is much darker than anyone could have imagined.
