Who doesn’t love Batman!? It’s hard not to love a badass, gritty, crime-fighting dude dressed as a bat. Over the years, there have been many actors and films portraying this masked vigilante. Different films take place in their own timelines or simply have nothing to do with one another. Think of the Batman series almost as the James Bond series. Each actor that has portrayed Batman has his own set of films. Because of this, it may end up confusing people as to what order these batman films go in. That’s where we come in! This guide is to help you watch the all the different Batman movies in order. Let’s get started!

Harvey Dent (Tommy Lee Jones), also known as Two-Face, is a schizophrenic and former District Attorney who seeks revenge on Bruce Wayne (Val Kilmer) by unleashing a brain-sucking weapon on Gotham City’s residents. Batman, also known as the caped crusader, faces off against Two-Face and the Riddler (Jim Carrey), another disgruntled ex-Wayne Enterprises inventor. As the masked hero attempts to recover from the traumatic experiences of his parents’ death, he sparks up a romance with psychologist Chase Meridian (Nicole Kidman).

As Batman (George Clooney) and Robin (Chris O’Donnell) battle a new set of nefarious villains, including the melancholy Mr. Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and the sultry Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman), a third hero, Batgirl (Alicia Silverstone), joins the fight. These bad guys are determined to make Gotham into an arctic region or turn all the citizens into plants, but the Dynamic Duo is more than up for the challenge. As a young man, Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) journeys to the Far East, where he trains under the tutelage of Henri Ducard (Liam Neeson), a member of the League of Shadows. Ducard reveals to Wayne the League’s true purpose, the complete destruction of Gotham City. Unhappy with the League’s purpose, Wayne returns to Gotham to rid the city of criminal scum without resorting to murder. Not long after his return the legendary Batman is born. Along with Alfred (Michael Caine) and Lucius (Morgan Freeman), Batman begins to fight crime on the streets of Gotham marking the beginning of his mission to rebuild the city into something better.

Batman has now made it his mission to stop Superman at all costs. But Superman has more than Batman to worry about. He’s also got Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) coming after him.

Batman (Ben Affleck), along with Wonder Woman (Gal Godot), begins recruiting a series of heroes to join their elite team. Known as the Justice League, they must prepare to save Earth from the biggest threat it’s ever faced. They’ve only got one shot, and without Superman (Henry Cavill), their odds aren’t looking too great.


That’s about it for all the Batman movies in release date order. We didn’t put Suicide Squad up there because Batman only made a small cameo in it, so we don’t really consider it a Batman movie. We are not done yet though! If you are trying to differentiate which actor is in each Batman movie, we’ve made some simple tables to show you! So far, 6 different actors have assumed the role of Batman! That includes Robert Pattison, whose movie isn’t out as of now. (February 22, 2022)
