1. Arrival

This is one hell of a movie! This one takes you for a ride and it just completely throws your mind into a blender! Arrival makes you think more than your usual alien invasion movie, and it is most definitely worth your time!

Arrival Movie Summary

Spaceships of unknown origins begin touching down all around the Earth in a seemingly random pattern. As the nation goes into a panic, U.S. officer, Colonel G.T. Weber (Forest Whitaker), gathers Louise Banks (Amy Adams), a linguist professor and physicist Ian Donnelly (Jeremy Renner) in hopes of uncovering some answers. Weber puts Louise in charge of a team of first-class investigators to find out why these extraterrestrial beings have initiated contact with humans. Working against time, the team continues to struggle to find a way to communicate with the beings. However, Louise takes a leap of faith that could end her life or even worse, cause humanity’s extinction.

2. War of the Worlds

Tom Cruise in an alien movie!? Yes! This movie is incredibly intense and will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole film! It makes you think about how far you would go to save your family!

War of the Worlds Movie Summary

A divorced man named Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) doesn’t have much of a relationship with his two children Rachel and Robbie. However, when his ex-wife decides to go visit her parents, she drops them off at Ray’s house, giving him a chance to rekindle his relationship with them. At first, the day goes on normally until strange phenomena begin to happen and crazy lightning storms start to strike down and wreak havoc on the electrical grid. Ray leaves the house to investigate when he runs into a crowd doing the same thing. As he arrives, a giant alien machine appears destroying everything around them while killing most of the witnesses. Ray rushes back to get his children and must now fight for his family’s life as he tries to get them to safety.

3. Cloverfeild

Arguably one of our favorite movies ever made! This movie is nothing short of amazing! If you haven’t watched this movie yet then do yourself a favor and do so! It’ll make you think about which of your friends you would want next to you while surviving an invasion!

Robert (Michael Stahl-David) who is celebrating his last day in New York City before moving to Japan for a new job, may not make it to the next day alive. During a party celebrating his new job, out of nowhere, all hell breaks loose. A giant alien being begins terrorizing and demolishing the whole city of New York. Now, Rob and a few of his friends have to fight for their survival with all odds stacked against them. 10 Cloverfield Lane Movie Summary

Michelle (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) wakes up after being unconscious, finding herself locked in a mysterious bunker with two men she doesn’t know. The owner of the bunker, named Howard (John Goodman), lets Michelle know that he has brought her to the bunker to save her life. Soon after, Michelle questions Howard about why going outside is off limits. She learns from Howard that after a nuclear or chemical fallout, the air has become too toxic and is now unbreathable. Michelle, unhappy and fearing Howard, decides to attempt an escape despite the safety that the shelter provides. If Michelle manages to escape, she may not be ready to face the truth about what really happened to the outside world.

5. Independance Day

The human race only has until July 4th to come up with a plan or they will face their extinction.

6. The Avengers

We shouldn’t have to say much here. It’s the fricken Avengers! If you haven’t watched it then stop being such a slow poke and watch all of them! Seriously! Do it now!

A team named the Avengers comes to fruition because of Loki, the god of mischief. Loki requires the Tesseract which has infinite energy giving Loki unlimited power. The god plans to control all of Earth while opening a portal allowing alien forces to invade the planet. 7. Pacific Rim

Giant robots fight big ass aliens!? Yup! If you are into that sort of stuff, then this one is 100% for you! There is also a second film in the series, and it is also excellent!

The Kaiju, giant interdimensional aliens have forced Mankind to build massive robots if they want any chance of defeating the giants. As the Kaiju attacks continue they get increasingly stronger, making humans lose hope. With not much more to lose, humanity must rely on an ex-pilot (Charlie Hunnam), an ill-experienced trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) and an old, beat down Jaeger as their last chance of survival.

8. Annihilation

If anything, this is the most confusing movie in this post! But in a good way! The scenery in the film is absolutely stunning as well! It’s also a different kind of alien movie as you don’t see huge alien ships coming in above the Earth. We don’t want to spoil it, but it definitely will put your brain through a blender!

Annihilation Movie Summary

Lena (Natalie Portman), a cellular biologist professor must now go into a zone called “the Shimmer”. It appeared at a lighthouse three years ago and began expanding. A beautiful iridescent wall of light surrounds the mysterious expanding zone. Lena and a team prepare to go into the zone and as soon as they are about to enter, they wake up already in the zone. It’s as if they had teleported through time because they cannot remember entering it. The goal of the mission is to reach the origin of the anomaly and learn more about it. However, none of the team is truly ready for what is to come.
