For the longest time, filmmakers have loved finding novel ways to scare the ever living crap out of their audiences. And we, the viewers, love it!

The Conjuring is, perhaps, one of the most well-made horror films ever. This movie delivers enough terror to wreck any thoughts of getting a good night’s sleep for at least a few days. It is an absolute horror masterpiece that will, without a doubt, nearly scare you to death!

Now, there is a second Conjuring film and a third one coming out! We did not add those to this list because they are part of the series itself. But if you didn’t know, now you do!

Ellison Oswald (Ethan Hawke), a fictional true-crime writer, becomes desperate for a new story to write. In search of inspiration, Ellison moves his family into a house with an ominous past. The previous homeowners had recently been murdered.

After moving his family into the new home, Ellison makes a discovery that puts his whole family in imminent danger. As he searches the attic, he happens upon a series of tapes. While watching the tapes, Ellison realizes that they depict multiple serial murders. And as Ellison will soon learn, he and his family are not alone in the new house.

We’ve all seen that creepy little demon Annabelle in a few horror movies but we never really knew where she came from. This movie gives you the whole backstory to this nightmarish little thing, so it’s definitely worth a watch!

Unable to cope with the loss of their daughter, the couple makes some dark and dangerous decisions which will come back to haunt them. When Sam and Esther take the new guests into their home, their past mistakes may put their new guest’s lives in horrible danger.

I don’t know if we’d be grateful for being saved by the creature that saved these girls or if we would have died from the horror of looking at it.

This movie is chilling down to the bones and will have you jumping ten feet in the air at unexpected moments! So if you give this a watch, which we do recommend, just be ready to die a little inside.

Mama Movie Description

Lilly and Victoria went missing years ago after their father killed their mother and then took them deep into the woods to a cabin. As their father was about to kill them, a mysterious force brutally dismembered him saving the girls’ lives. It was another 5 years before the girls were found still living in the cabin.

Immediately, the girls’ uncle Lucas (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is notified of their reappearance. Lucas and his girlfriend Annabel (Jessica Chastain) take the girls into their home. They realize that the two girls now have a rabid and vicious nature of being. That’s not the only thing though. Weird things begin to happen around the girls and the couple soon find out that they may have invited more than just their two nieces into their home.

Three students, Heather Donahue (Heather Donahue), Joshua Leonard (Joshua Leonard), and Michael Williams (Michael C. Williams) make their way to Burkittsville, Maryland to uncover the truth of the Blair Witch legend.

However, the students all disappear and only leave their camera footage behind, waiting for someone to watch it. About a year after their disappearance, someone comes upon the footage and reveals the horrors of its content.

The Exorcist Movie Description

Young teen Regan (Linda Blair), the daughter of Chris McNeil (Ellen Burstyn), begins acting strange and out of the ordinary. She starts to speak in different languages and even levitates at times. Her mother, fearing for her daughter’s safety, seeks medical attention.

When doctors can’t seem to find anything wrong with Regan, Chris doesn’t know what to do. However, a local priest believes that the devil has possessed and put Regan under his control. The priest informs Chris that they need to perform an exorcism immediately. The church calls in an expert in the exorcism field in hopes that it’s not too late to save this young girl and keep her from putting everyone around her in danger.
