Okay, so where did producers decide to film this movie. Well, we’ll start with a general location for those of you who want a quick answer. Filmmakers chose to shoot the 2017 adaptation of Steven King’s It in Canada!

Locations Used In Canada

If you have seen this movie, then you know that it is set in the small community of Derry. To portray the town of Derry, producers filmed in Port Hope, Canada. Port Hope is located in Southern Ontario, near Toronto.

Filmmakers transformed many buildings in Port Hope during filming. For instance, the Port Hope Municipal Hall was converted into the Derry Library. Also, a giant statue of Paul Bunyon was erected in the Port Hope Memorial Park for the scene where Pennywise is floating over the statue carried by a large bundle of red balloons.

One of the more notable locations in this film is the horror house at 29 Neibolt Street. Now, this house doesn’t actually exist, but producers built the set at the corner of James Street and Eulalie Avenue in Oshawa. However, for the interior shots of this house, producers used the Cranfield House, which you can find at 450 Pape Avenue in Riverdale.

Finally, we have the terrifying paper boat scene. That scene took place in the Weston neighborhood of Toronto, located near 124 Queens Drive.

Other than this, producers didn’t use many other locations to film. They stuck around the town of Port Hope and turned it into the fictional community of Derry.

We hope that we answered all the questions about this movie’s filming locations and if you make a trip to Port Hope, let us know if you run into Pennywise.
