Quinn Brenner (Stephanie Scott) has continuously been trying to get into contact with her deceased mother. In the attempts to communicate with her mother she instead attracts malicious forces into her life. Quinn decides to contact Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) who is a known psychic for help. Elise refuses as she had recently retired due to her dangerous past encounters. After being turned down Quinn is violently attacked by the demon haunting her multiple times. Quinn’s father hires two men named Specs (Leigh Whannell) and Tucker (Angus Sampson) to try and help his daughter. He also pleads to Elise for help and she agrees because of the imminent danger that Quinn is in. After being retired, Elise decides to travel back into The Further to find Quinn and help her get free of her demon. However, Elise has more than one demon to worry about.

Josh (Patrick Wilson) and Renai (Rose Byrne), parents to Dalton (Ty Simpkins), Foster (Andrew Astor), and their newborn Cali, otherwise known as the Lamberts, have been experiencing some horrifying paranormal activities. All this happening after their son Dalton goes into an unexplainable coma. The Lamberts decide to move as they believe the house is haunted. However, once moved into their new house, the supernatural events continue. It doesn’t take long for them to decide that they need professional help and call Elise Rainier who specializes in getting rid of the evil entities haunting families.

One of them is The Bride in Black, and she has now taken possession of Josh. In order to save Josh, Lorraine and the paranormal team have to go into Josh’s past to find the answers they need to defeat these malicious entities.
