She was born to her parents King Stefan and Queen Leah, who are having trouble conceiving a child due to an enchantment placed on them by Maleficent. Aurora was raised unaware that she has been betrothed since birth to Prince Phillip, son of King Hubert and Queen Arianna – both rulers of neighboring kingdoms.

However, upon learning this information from the three good fairies Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, Aurora was moved to tears by the idea of marrying a man she had never met. Her sheltered life in her parents’ castle is shattered when she pricks her finger on what turns out to be an enchanted spinning wheel. In turn Aurora falls into a deep sleep that can only be awakened with true love’s first kiss.

4. Ariel

Ariel is the princess of Disney’s 1989 film The Little Mermaid. She subsequently appears in the prequel television series and direct-to-video sequels, as well as a stage musical adaptation named after her. She received the award along with Pocahontas, Snow White, and Ariel .

6. Jasmine

Jasmine is the first Disney Princess to be born into royalty. She’s also very strong-willed and independent, which makes her different from other girls who typically have a dream of marrying their prince charming. This Arabian beauty loves to be out in the desert riding her horse. Not to mention, Jasmine knows how to wield a sword like no other.

7. Pocahontas

Pocahontas is the tenth Disney Princess. She was born into the Powhatan tribe. Later in life she ends up meeting an Englishman named John Smith. 8. Mulan

Mulan is the young Chinese girl who dresses up as a man to fight for her country in place of her sick father. She’s also known by other names, including Fa Ping and Hua Mulan. She’s a brave and courageous woman who not only fights for her country but also saves it.

Mulan is a heroine who makes mistakes and learns from them. She has many sides to her personality, including her ruthless determination she shows in fighting off invaders as well as her soft loving side for family. She’s a princess who doesn’t fit the “perfect” standards of being obedient, gentle, and kind. Instead, Mulan goes against all expectations in order to save her home country.

However, she also has a feisty side making her one of the Disney Princesses you don’t want to mess with!

10. Rapunzel

Rapunzel is the main protagonist of Disney’s 2010 animated feature film, Tangled. She is a princess with long magic hair who has been locked in a tower for eighteen years by Mother Gothel. 11. Merida

Merida is a brave and strong Scottish princess in the animated feature film, “Brave”. She has long, curly red hair and piercing green eyes. Merida is the daughter of Queen Elinor, who rules their kingdom with a steady hand and has been guiding Merida through her new role as an adult in the royal court. Merida absolutely hates that women are expected to be docile and demure, while men do anything they please. She doesn’t want to be an “old lady”, who is only fit for domestic work, and wants to live life on her own terms.

12. Moana

Moana is the daughter of chief Tui Waialiki, who lives on Motunui Island in the South Pacific. She is brave, tenacious, strong-willed and curious.
