What Are The Disney Princess Names?
1. Snow White
Snow White is one of the most popular Disney princesses. She was originally voiced by Adriana Caselotti in 1937! Snow White is the only Disney princess to have her own star on Hollywood’s walk of fame! She also first appeared in Snow-White and Rose-Red, a German fairy tale published by the Brothers Grimm. She was the first Disney Princess and has been followed by many others since!
Cinderella is the main character in Disney’s 1950 film Cinderella. She was voiced by Ilene Woods, who also provided her personality traits and mannerisms. In addition to being a household name for decades, she has been recognized as one of the most popular princesses worldwide due to how iconic she is.
Aurora is the princess from Walt Disney’s animated feature film Sleeping Beauty. She was born to her parents King Stefan and Queen Leah, who are having trouble conceiving a child due to an enchantment placed on them by Maleficent. Aurora was raised unaware that she has been betrothed since birth to Prince Phillip, son of King Hubert and Queen Arianna – both rulers of neighboring kingdoms.
However, upon learning this information from the three good fairies Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, Aurora was moved to tears by the idea of marrying a man she had never met. Her sheltered life in her parents’ castle is shattered when she pricks her finger on what turns out to be an enchanted spinning wheel. In turn Aurora falls into a deep sleep that can only be awakened with true love’s first kiss.
Ariel is the princess of Disney’s 1989 film The Little Mermaid. She subsequently appears in the prequel television series and direct-to-video sequels, as well as a stage musical adaptation named after her. Though originally voiced by Jodi Benson in all animated appearances, she has also been portrayed by other actresses on Broadway. Ariel is an independent young mermaid princess who wishes to experience life on land away from Atlantis. Her exciting journey eventually leads her to becoming one of the most beloved characters ever created.
Belle is the princess in Disney’s 1991 film, “Beauty and the Beast.” Fun fact, she was originally going to be named Gracie Annette! Belle is often considered one of the best Disney characters ever created due to her beauty as well as her being an inventor! Unlike most of the other princesses who just focused on housework. Belle is also notable for being one of four animated princesses nominated by fans at The American Film Institute Awards for Favorite All Time Female Movie Character. She received the award along with Pocahontas, Snow White, and Ariel .
Jasmine is the first Disney Princess to be born into royalty. She’s also very strong-willed and independent, which makes her different from other girls who typically have a dream of marrying their prince charming. This Arabian beauty loves to be out in the desert riding her horse. Not to mention, Jasmine knows how to wield a sword like no other.
Pocahontas is the tenth Disney Princess. She was born into the Powhatan tribe. Later in life she ends up meeting an Englishman named John Smith. She helps him stop a war from erupting between their two groups of people saving countless lives. Not only that, but Pocahontas married John Rolfe, making her one of few Disney characters who actually ends up marrying someone.
Mulan is the young Chinese girl who dresses up as a man to fight for her country in place of her sick father. She’s also known by other names, including Fa Ping and Hua Mulan. She’s a brave and courageous woman who not only fights for her country but also saves it.
Mulan is a heroine who makes mistakes and learns from them. She has many sides to her personality, including her ruthless determination she shows in fighting off invaders as well as her soft loving side for family. She’s a princess who doesn’t fit the “perfect” standards of being obedient, gentle, and kind. Instead, Mulan goes against all expectations in order to save her home country.
Tiana is the first African American Disney Princess, originating from The Princess and the Frog. She is voiced by Anika Noni Rose who happens to be an amazing singer. Tiana dreams of opening up her own restaurant after Prince Naveen breaks their deal to help her pursue her dream job as a chef at the fancy Le Grand Paris hotel. She’s hardworking, brave, kind, smart, and caring towards others who are in need of help or assistance. However, she also has a feisty side making her one of the Disney Princesses you don’t want to mess with!
Rapunzel is the main protagonist of Disney’s 2010 animated feature film, Tangled. She is a princess with long magic hair who has been locked in a tower for eighteen years by Mother Gothel. That is until the charming Flynn Rider breaks her free and helps her return to the kingdom. Her beauty and personality made her become one of the most popular modern day princesses in recent years.
Merida is a brave and strong Scottish princess in the animated feature film, “Brave”. She has long, curly red hair and piercing green eyes. Merida is the daughter of Queen Elinor, who rules their kingdom with a steady hand and has been guiding Merida through her new role as an adult in the royal court. Merida absolutely hates that women are expected to be docile and demure, while men do anything they please. She doesn’t want to be an “old lady”, who is only fit for domestic work, and wants to live life on her own terms.
Moana is the daughter of chief Tui Waialiki, who lives on Motunui Island in the South Pacific. She is brave, tenacious, strong-willed and curious. She is also caring and loving, as she puts her people above herself. Moana does not fit into the expectations of her village or family – she doesn’t have the patience for weaving or singing songs by the fire like everyone else. Instead, Moana dreams of traveling across the sea to see what is in that great expanse.
