Holes Filming Locations

Okay, so where was the movie Holes filmed exactly!? Well, we’ll start off with a more broad location for you just in case you are looking for a quick answer. Producers chose to film the entire movie in the state of California and not Texas where the movie is actually set! If you want some more detailed locations you’ll find those right below!

Locations Used In California

Camp Green Lake

So there are quite a few different locations used in California during the production of this movie. For the camp that makes an appearance for a good amount of the movie Melody Ranch located at 24715 Oak Creek Avenue, Newhall, California, USA was used.

Desert

One fun fact about the movie is that they actually filmed in a real desert in the exhausting desert heat. The producers chose the Mojave Desert for any scenes that take place in the desert.

Bridge

Next up we have the bridge that you see Stanley running under. For that, producers chose Anderson Street Overpass, Los Angeles, California, USA for filming those scenes. However, that bridge has since then been demolished.

God’s Thumb

For one of the more iconic locations in the movie also known as God’s Thumb, we have some disappointing news about that one. Sadly, it does not exist and was man-made specifically for that movie.

School

Next up we have the school which made it into the film. Any scenes that took place there, were shot in Leconte Middle School located at 1316 N. Bronson Avenue, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA

Other Locations

Those are all the major iconic locations in the films. However, some other locations also made it in the movie. These include Cuddeback Dry Lake, California, USA, Red Rock Canyon State Park – Highway 14, Cantil, California, USA, Lake Casitas, Ventura, California, USA, and finally, Walt Disney’s Golden Oak Ranch – 19802 Placerita Canyon Road, Newhall, California, USA.

That about wraps it up for all the different locations used in this movie. Other than God’s Thumb most locations in this movie are real locations. We hope we managed to answer all your questions regarding where the movie Holes was filmed!
